Inscrutable, Bestow, Interrogate, Assail, Sob in Sentences

Because I couldn’t read the inscrutable letter, I was clueless about the gift the magician wished to bestow upon me. Of course my lack of knowledge didn’t stop the king’s henchman, Vail, from attempting to interrogate me. Over and over, Vail asked me what I knew about the missing crystal sword, but I could tell him nothing. Still, he continued to assail me by dunking my head in a large bucket of water. After a short time, I began to sob, and I wept in between loud gasps for air.

Inscrutable – not capable of being comprehended

Bestow – to give to

Interrogate – to formally ask, often repeatedly

Assail – to vigorously assault

Sob – to cry while making gasping noises
